What it includes

Full CNC cutting services, under one roof.

CNC milling uses a computer controlled router to cut sheet material to exact shapes and sizes. Every part is cut from a drawing, so pieces come out square, consistent and ready to assemble, whether you need one panel or a full run of doors.

It is the same machine we use for our own kitchens and cabinetry. Along with our own projects, we cut for homeowners with a project in mind and for contractors, renovators and cabinet makers who want accurate parts without running a CNC of their own.

  • Full CNC cutting. Parts cut to your drawings and measurements.
  • Raw MDF doors and panels. Cut and ready for you to finish.
  • Prime and paint. Doors and panels primed and painted in our shop, if you want them finished.
  • Drilled for hinges. Doors bored for hinges so they are ready to hang.
  • For the trade. Cutting for other companies and contractors, as well as homeowners.
Why CNC

Why CNC cut parts make a better job.

Parts cut by hand vary a little from piece to piece, and those small differences show up as uneven gaps and doors that do not line up. A CNC cuts every part from the same drawing, so doors match, panels are square and repeat orders line up with the first batch.

For contractors it also saves time. Instead of setting up saws and cutting on site, you get parts that are ready to assemble, finish or install.

  • Consistent. Every door and panel cut from the same drawing.
  • Accurate. Square parts that fit the first time.
  • Ready to use. Raw, primed, painted or drilled for hinges, depending on what you need.

Options

Choosing what you need, and the trade-offs.

How far we take your parts is up to you. These are the choices that shape most CNC orders.

Raw or finished

Raw MDF parts cost less and let you finish them your way. Primed or painted parts arrive ready to install and save your crew a messy step.

Primed or painted

Primed parts are ready for your own paint colour on site. Parts painted in our shop come back with an even sprayed finish.

Drilled for hinges

Having doors bored for hinges saves time on site, but it means the hinge type and position need to be decided before cutting.

Door style

Simple slab doors cut quickly. Shaker and panel styles take more machining and cost more per door.

One off or a run

A single custom part costs more per piece than a larger order, because the setup is the same either way.

Cut only or installed

We can cut parts for you to build and install, or build and install the whole job as part of a Hailey kitchen or built in.

Cost

What CNC cutting costs, and what drives it.

The cost of a CNC order depends on how many parts there are, how complex they are to cut, and how much finishing you want. Contact us with your drawings or a list of parts for a quote.

These are the things that move the number most:

  • Quantity. The number of parts, and how many sheets of material they need.
  • Complexity. Shaped profiles and detailed door styles take longer to cut.
  • Material. The type and thickness of the sheet material.
  • Finishing. Priming, painting and drilling for hinges.
  • Drawings. Ready to cut drawings are quicker than parts we need to draw up for you.

Where we work

CNC milling for Guelph, Kitchener and Cambridge.

Our CNC is in our shop at 2270 Gordon Street South in Guelph. These are the three areas most of our CNC customers come from.

Guelph

Our CNC is right here in the south end of Guelph, so local contractors, renovators and homeowners can talk to us directly about a job and deal with one shop from quote to finished parts, without shipping delays.

Kitchener

Kitchener has a large community of renovators, builders and cabinet makers, and CNC cut parts save them from running a machine of their own. Kitchener is a short drive west of our shop along Highway 7.

Cambridge

Contractors and homeowners in Cambridge, from the older cores of Galt, Preston and Hespeler to the newer subdivisions, can have doors and panels cut, primed and drilled in our Guelph shop, ready for their next project.

FAQ

CNC milling questions.

Is CNC and milling the same thing?

Milling is the process of cutting material away with a spinning cutter. CNC means the machine is computer controlled, so it follows a drawing exactly. CNC milling is milling done by a computer controlled machine, which is what we use to cut doors, panels and parts.

How much does it cost to have a CNC wood cutting service?

It depends on the number of parts, how complex they are to cut, the material and any finishing such as priming, painting or drilling for hinges. Send us your drawings or a parts list and we will give you a quote.

What is the cost of CNC cutting?

There is no flat rate, because a single custom part and a full run of doors cost very differently per piece. Quantity, complexity, material and finishing set the price, and we quote each order.

Do you cut for other contractors?

Yes. Along with our own projects, we cut for other companies and contractors, as well as homeowners.

Can you prime, paint and drill the doors?

Yes. We can supply raw MDF doors and panels, or prime and paint them in our shop, and drill doors for hinges so they are ready to hang.

Where is your CNC?

Our CNC is in our shop at 2270 Gordon Street South, Unit 2, in Guelph. We work with customers in Guelph, Kitchener, Cambridge, Waterloo and Rockwood.
